How Big is Baby?
According to babycenter.com:
Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that she’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in your womb, she isn’t likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
According to thebump.com:
- She’s about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. From here on out, she won’t get much longer, but she’s plumping up. She’s now about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds, and she’ll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth.
- Now, her hearing is fully developed, and she responds best to high-pitched noises.
Growing, growing, growing. Yup, baby and you. You’ve reached 35 weeks, and your uterus has grown about 1,000 times its original size, a number that might sound exaggerated to everyone else — but to you it probably feels more like a million. You can expect to gain about a half-pound a week before birth, and baby’s beefing up, too. At 35 weeks, some moms-to-be feel like they have a ton of stuff left to do before baby’s arrival. Others can barely wait for baby to make her debut. Either way, try not to stress. Baby will show up when she’s ready, and she won’t care if you haven’t checked every little detail off your list.
How I’m Feeling Physically
I know baby H must really be putting on some weight this week because my belly has reeally grown. . I feel huge! I can’t believe she still has four more weeks of basically just getting bigger! Oh boy! loll
Like I’ve said before I still have to be really careful with making sure to consume small meals. By dinner time if I were to eat a full meal I would be extremely uncomfortable. So my go-to dinner this week has been a kale smoothie with protein powder.
This week I finished five sessions of Netflix Target Toning, followed up by 45+ minutes on the elliptical. I can tell I am slowing down a little, the usual 3.25+ miles I was able to get done in 45+ mins @ level 8, has turned into about 2.8 – 2.9. My heart rate goes up too high if I go any faster than that.
Lots of Braxton Hicks this week- I have been timing them and each contraction lasts about 1-2 minutes and they are about 2-5 minutes apart. They only last about 10-15 minutes and then fade out. These seem to happen most often: once I crawl into bed, if I have been walking a lot- too fast, or if baby H is been very active. Each time contractions come around I wonder if “this is it?!” But I know my body is just practicing for the real thing.
How I’m Feeling Emotionally
I’ve been watching a lot of “Baby’s First Day” and “A Baby Story” and imagining how labor will go for me… I can’t say I’m not a little scared about having this little person being pushed out of me. Good thing Chase and I have our Labor Pain Relief class tonight and we will learn more about the birthing process. Other than a little fear of birth, this week has been great emotionally – nothing new really. I am still anxious for time to tick by a little faster
Random
- pregnancy length so far: 35 weeks, 6 days
- weight gain: + 20lbs.
- days left: 30
- things left to buy: Ergo carrier & a baby play mat
- days until next doctor appointment: 4 (Doctor says this appointment they are going to check to see if I am dilated at all)
- both hospital bags are packed for the baby and I
- Baby Classes this week: 2, last night was “Introduction to Breastfeeding” @ The Pump Station in Santa Monica, and tonight is our Labor Pain Relief Class @ Cedar Sanai Hospital
- craving: champagne mangos, kale smoothies, organic chickpeas by the handful throughout the day, and chovocado pudding ~ I have been eating an avocado a day for the past three days! Also wheatgrass! I have been drinking a double shot of wheatgrass from the juice shop across the street each day and have noticed significantly less cravings for junk food and sugar. 1oz. of this stuff is equal to eating 2.5 lbs of leafy green veggies… so with a double shot I am up to 5 lbs. of leafy green veggies a day! Yes please
Click here to check out my post about wheatgrass.
Purchased This Week:
- Motherhood Maternity seamless nursing tanks in black & white
- Brookstone baby white noise machine
- Fenugreek vitamins to assist with milk production (just FYI these are not recommended to take until you are no longer pregnant)
- Victoria’s Secret oversized tee shirts – these are my favorite thing to sleep in right now! so comfortable, not restricting around my belly, and Chase loves them
Plus I can totally still wear them after I have the baby!
Baby Bump Pics
35 weeks, 6 days (took this pic right after I got out of bed this morning)
and here is a little closer…
any thoughts on whether she dropped based upon my baby bump pics? Cuz I certainly feel like she dropped.
xoxo Jennifer
Any recommendations to help get me through these last four weeks of pregnancy?
If you have ever been pregnant how would you describe the ninth month?
Any last things Chase and I should try to do before the baby comes?

You have the cutest bump! Thank u for the ping!
Thank you
Beautiful pictures, have a lovely weekend.:)
thank you! hope you have a great weekend as well! xo
I am seriously getting so excited for you!!! I can’t wait until you have her! It is so much better than you can even imagine!
It is still so crazy for me to think that my waters broke at 36 +2 and that I technically had C at 36+4 (based off conception, even though we went with 37 weeks in the hospital so they didn’t have to keep her there longer). You are going to make such a great mom and love every second of it!
I love those VS shirts to, I have a bunch of them and sleep in them too and they make night feedings easy as well. Plus they are so super soft!
You are still looking fabulous and I don’t think you gained weight anywhere but your stomach which is nice because you’ll be amazed at how much smaller you are within hours after having Hayden!
You should check out the Ergo carriers if you will be able to carry the baby front facing with them (while wearing it on the front). I thought I heard you can’t and they can only be used with the baby facing you. We got the organic Britax and it can be used as both the rear and front carrier which is nice so we don’t have to buy another carrier, once C wants to face the front and look around, which will probably be in the next month or two. That is the reason we didn’t get an Ergo. I just thought I would point that out incase you are planning on wearing the baby forward facing!
If I were you I’d make sure you are completely stocked up on household items like bottled water, paper towels, bars and non pershiable things that make quick snacks. I found once I had C I didn’t even have time to go to the bathroom, let alone eat. So any meals you can make now and freeze would be a good idea, plus it can keep you busy while waiting for H to come. When you have a newborn you don’t want to be running errands (with all the germs out there) to get household items, so it’s nice to have all that stuff done a head of time. Also, if you have any friends who want to make you baby meals, that is always nice to have lined up. We had a family bring us over about 4 meals and it was so nice because if they hadn’t done that we would have just ate a protein bar I’m sure, or skipped meals because we were both so exhausted and you will be starving after giving brith for about a week I’d say as your body recovers form birth and your hormones are balancing!
Also, this might sound weird, but I would buy some cheap after birth panties you can wear and throw away and bring your own pads. There is a lot of bleeding after pregnancy and the hospital will give you pads (and panties) the size of a house (I’m not joking, they’re HUGE), so you might want to bring some of your own and make sure you are stocked up at your house too since the bleeding can last weeks.
Okay, that was a novel! I probably should have emailed this to you instead of commenting all of it!
I hope the preggo weight falls off of me like it did you! that is for sure!!
LOL
And that is all I care about!
Good looking out on the carrier ~ We have a front facing carrier – in black/grey. The brand is called “Lascal” http://www.lascal.se/products/m1-carrier/colours. We got it as a hand me down from the family I nanny’d for in OC, and it is in great condition. Its made of Bamboo (which I read is anti-bacterial) and mesh so its really breathable for the baby. I have just heard some great things about the Ergo and I like the way it looks so I want one of those as well. I also have the K’tan so I think I might be wearing that the most often right after she is born. It is incredibly easy to put on which will be nice.
I will definitely start planning some meals now, and go pick up those household items like paper towels and things etc. How many diapers you think I will need in the first week? We have maybe like 50 newborn.. and 50 -100 size 1.. should I buy another box or two of newborn? We have CVS right across the street so I could always send Chase
I’m going to pick up pads and undies this weekend too… I hate bleeding… that is going to be the worst!! Oh well at least I will have my baby to snuggle with then
I don’t know what I would do without you to ask for advice! You have been such a tremendous help and have made me so much less nervous and much more confident about what is about to happen so I just want to say thank you so much!!
You could probably weight on the diapers until you know what size will fit her best. I think we had newborn (since we knew she was coming early) and about 150 of them. We probably went through another 150 of them before we switched to size one diapers. I’ve been ordering Seventh Generation off Diapers.com. If you haven’t checked out the site yet, they have great deals on diapers and free shipping if you spend a certain amount. Plus they come in two days which is nice!
The ergo’s are super nice, and if you have a front facing carrier as well, I’d say you will be set!
The bleeding isn’t that bad after the first few days. Plus you wont even be thinking about it since you will have your sweet little princess to keep you distracted!
I’m so happy I can help out with questions! I read pregnancy blogs like crazy to find out as much as I could all throughout my pregnancy! There is nothing to be nervous about for birth either. I truly believe if you go in with a positive attitude and don’t think it will be super painful, you’ll have a better experience. I don’t do good with pain and if I could have a totally natural birth, I think anyone can give birth! Just keep your mind on the prize, your beautiful baby girl your about to meet, and you’ll do so great! Just think, your going to become a mom this month! So exciting!
Did you eat burrito or something? I’ve always wondered what it would look like if you stuck your belly out, not any more… Suck that bad boy in… Ha! J/K
