Hey friends
How is everyone? Having a good week? I hope so! I have been having a fabulous week!
Monday night, Chase and I took the cooking class I had previously mentioned, at Sur La Table.
This cooking class was the most fun thing we have done together in a long time!
Class started at 6:30pm and we arrived hungry and ready to do some serious cooking!
There were 8 people total taking the class… and we each partnered up, so there were four groups of two. We followed the instructor and each pair made the same dishes. Each of the four dishes we made, were handed in once finished so the instructor could compile them into large serving bowls, and then all of the food was offered at the end of class for everyone to enjoy together.
Here are a few photos of us cooking ~ here I am slicing garlic cloves…
peeling the skin off of roasted Italian eggplant..
kneading fresh pasta dough..
and here is the star participant of the class ~ he was the instructor’s helper
The first dish we prepared, the appetizer.
Whats in it? Spaghetti tossed with sautéed arugula, garlic, chili flake, lemon zest, breadcrumbs, and topped with parmesan cheese. Chase plated the one below..
The next dish was rigatoni. Below is a picture of just the sauce ~ roasted eggplant, roasted red pepper, and red onion; sauteed in olive oil, chicken stock, garlic, smoked mozzarella cheese, and a little basil.
Then we made orchiette pasta and tossed it with italian sausage crumbles, garlic, chili flake, oregano, broccoli rabe, and parmesan cheese.
Below is a picture of the finished orchhiette pasta, and the rigatoni in back.
We also prepared handmade spinach linguini noodles which were coated with a sauce made from heavy cream, butter, and parmesan cheese – basically an alfredo. And my apologies, I don’t have any pictures of that one… Chase and I each had two small bites, even though this dish was our favorite! We were both so full!
Cooking class was a really fun activity for Chase and I to enjoy as a couple! We had such a great experience we would like to start taking a class per week – again Chase’s idea
I’m not sure if we will end up going that often, but I think maybe one or two a month would be an attainable goal! I would highly recommend taking a cooking class!! You really learn a lot of techniques from the teacher and also how to prepare a few star dishes! And also we got 10% off in the store after the class had finished!
Cant wait for our next class!

I haven’t taken a cooking class before but know I would love them! I’d love to learn how to cook seafood better!
I love Sur La Table but haven’t been in one for a while. I usually order most things online from Williams Sonoma since where I live we are lacking quality kitchen gear. Plus WS has free shipping once you pay $30 just once a year
We just signed up for another class there. This time its Celebrating Food & Wine: A Tasty Bite of Spain… we learn how to make spanish style tapas dishes! And I love tapas!
Plus shopping for kitchen gear is almost as much fun as shopping for baby gear! nice to know they have a great deal on shipping as well
I have definitely followed in your footsteps becoming such an avid online shopper. Its just too easy to find what you want online and press purchase..
I also love WS! That store always smells like heaven when I walk by so Im always sucked inside
