I’ve got rotten bananas.

and some VERRRY ripe strawberries…

and thoughts of strawberry banana bread dancing in my head.

I argue with myself….  No… you really don’t need something delicious sitting on the counter and tempting you for the next week.

What about a little self discipline? Meh.

Lets be real. I’m human, and I’m 8 1/2 months pregnant. If I want something, and its right in front of me, 9 times out of 10, I’m probably going to indulge. Of course at first I will always tell myself just a little bite, and then that bite turns into a piece, and then maybe another piece later. I find myself having to trade the calories I consumed with this non-nutritional treat for the ones I would be consuming during actual meals. Not a healthy habit.

This is actually one of the reasons I haven’t been baking much lately. If these kinds of treats are around, no doubt they will be gobbled up!

I would rather just make some banana soft serve, eat an apple, or grab a few clementines to suffice my need for a sweet treat.

I guess I have discouraged myself from baking :( I’m not too sure how I feel about this… Chase loves having cookies and home baked goods (the healthier ones too) around the house just as much as I love the therapeutic act of baking them.

This might sound silly, but I need to learn how to not give in to my “inner toddler” that demands instant gratification saying, “I want! I want! I want!” but rather tell the two year old Jennifer, “You can have some, just not all at once.” One piece a day is fine.

Anyone have any tips on not giving in to this kind of temptation? I miss baking, but I prefer to just stay away from it all together if I don’t think I can control myself. It probably doesn’t help that I am home during the day. I know keeping busy (being out of the house) is helpful in staying distracted from false cravings and temptations. Which is another reason I am excited for Hayden to get here! 41 more days… and then I will be busier than ever. Can.Not.Wait!!!

My day of eats & activities so far:

Breakfast ~ Special K with almond milk (40 calorie original) and extra cut up fresh strawberries (reused pic)

10am workout 30 mins of Netflix 10 Minute Solution: Target Toning

Snacked on about 1/3 cup of rinsed chickpeas.

Then hit the gym for 45+ minutes on the elliptical.

Post workout snack (lunch): PB2 Kale Banana Smoothie

1c. original almond milk (40 cal.), 1 tbsp. chia seeds, 1 tbsp. coconut oil, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, sprinkle of nutmeg, 2 tbsp. PB2, 1 large leaf of curly kale (stems removed), 1 frozen banana, tiny squirt of agave, and 3 ice cubes

 and I had a Cascadian Farm Chocolate Chip granola bar

Now I am stufffffed! Time to watch some movies with Chase and the pups and have a nice lazy sunday….
