It’s Monday. And it’s cold and raining out.
So the pups and I are inside cuddling on the couch. And today I am 20 weeks pregnant!
How Big is Baby?
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. She’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, she’s measured from head to toe.)
She’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for her digestive system. She’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in her bowels, and you’ll see it in her first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
We had an anatomy ultrasound last Thursday @ 19w6d.
According to the doctor baby H is measuring perfectly. He said several times, “I am absolutely not worried about this baby, she is right on track and looks very healthy.” On her chart of progress we were exactly where we were supposed to be @ 50%. Heartbeat was 156 bpm. She opened her mouth too (I didn’t see this but Chase and the doctor did) which means she is swallowing!
In the picture above- her arms are up by the side of her face, and her legs are also sticking straight up! This picture kind of freaks me out, so I was reluctant to post it, but I want to document these moments and have something special to look back on.
I have been feeling lots of movement on both sides of my lower abdomen, more often on the left than the right. If I leave my hand on my belly I feel her moving quite a bit.
How Im Changing Physically
My belly just keeps growing. I am +8 lbs. I feel HUGE! It looks like I am about 8 months pregnant by the end of the day! Hello baby bump! I can’t imagine how big I will be when I am full term, but I hope I am not the size of a house! Its usually pretty hot in LA by the end of April and I am sort of wishing for a cold spring!! I love being able to layer up in warm sweaters, long sleeves, and scarves. And my uggs. Only the most comfortable boots ever. I live in them right now.
I didn’t get in any gym workouts over the weekend
I did however sign on to Netflix for a home workout. I used to do lots of Netflix workouts before I became pregnant, and I decided to return to one of my favorite’s ~ 10 minute solution: Target Toning.
I just did what I could and skipped the ab workout part of it and anything that wanted me laying flat on my back. I also was pleasantly surprised to find the Crunch: Yoga Mama on the instant streaming videos, so I finished up my workout sesh with this video. It was a nice calming yoga video, very relaxing. I definitely like my workouts (even yoga) to be a little more strenuous so I will probably rent some of the other prenatal yoga videos that they offered in the future.
How Im Feeling
Im feeling great! I have lots of energy, and I have definitely noticed a small increase in my appetite.
At night, I sleep with two pillows under my head, one pillow under my tummy/butt, and one in between my legs to support my knees.
I need to have the window cracked open a bit at night and because of this I think the dogs were getting sick. I would wake up to pee and I would find them shivering
And the next day two of them were throwing up and definitely not feeling well. So we have decided to let them back into our bed for the time being. So far they seem to be feeling much better.
What I’m Eating
Today started off with the usual- and I remembered to photograph it!!
I had a Ezekial Sprouted Grain Cinnamon Raisin English Muffin with Toffutti Plain Non Dairy, Non-Hydrogenated Cream Cheese. And a chia tea.
Then I made some sweet potatoes. If you are a fan of sweet potatoes you.must.make.these!!!!! I used Ashley’s recipe, however I used extra virgin coconut oil in place of the olive oil, and sprinkled them with sea salt, pepper, and paprika. You can also skip the paprika and salt n pepper and just sprinkle with cinnamon (which I did with a quarter of the batch) OMG. Don’t sit at home bored with these babies around, unless you have a lot of discipline!
Coconut Oil Baked Sweet Potatoes adapted from The Edible Perspective
Easy as pie.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350*
- Slice sweet potatoes ~1/2” thick
- Lightly brush each side with extra virgin coconut oil
- Sprinkle with paprika, sea salt and cracked pepper
- Bake for 20min [turning once]
- Turn heat to 400*
- Season the other side (optional but I did)
- Bake for ~15-20min more [turning once]
Lunch
Ezekial Low Sodium bread spread with about 1/8 of an avocado, covered with sweet potato slices, and served along 1/3 c. of cage-free organic egg whites.
Later I snacked on two tangelos. I am still extremely full from lunch and I probably won’t eat anything but fruit for the rest of the night. We have some brown pears that I have been eyeing- so I might slice up one of those later.
Now, I am going to go work out! I have missed my treadmill workouts dearly since I haven’t done one since Wednesday!!! AHHH! I feel like SUCH A SLUG when I don’t do cardio. I might do double time tonight, we will see how much energy I have in me once I make it down to the gym.
Then when I return home I plan on doing my yoga video, (I put a few blankets down underneath it and the floor is now soft enough for me to workout on it) watching RH of Beverly Hills, and calling it a night!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend, Monday, and are thoroughly enjoying the holiday season!!
Do you ever do Netflix workouts? If so, which ones?

Ohhh my gosh, your dogs are SO CUTE!!! Glad you liked the sweet taters!! Good luck with your pregnancy. Your baby bump is adorable.
Thank you
Yea the low n slow sweet potato recipe is one of my favorites of yours. I get lots of inspiration from you
I love sweet potatoes but can’t cook them for the life of me. I’ve attempted only a few times and they always turn out as failures!
My favorite reality shows are the housewives, although I can’t get myself to watch Atlanta for some reason. I love all the other ones though.
I’m sure you will never get as big as a house although it’s hard not feeling like you do. I’m feeling so huge right now and can’t imagine how I’m going to get even bigger in the next two months! That is also good news your little baby is measuring right on track! Cameryn was measuring small so they pushed my due date back three days! But as long as she is healthy and growing that’s all they care about!
yea RH of Atlanta I only watch if there is nothing else on! lol
try cooking these taters I bet you will have better luck!!
Wow! Those pictures are amazing! And loving the baby bump
My fav reality show is definitely all the Real Housewives – I am such a sucker for that show and love all their crazy drama!
We have ExerciseTV on OnDemand, so whenever I workout at home I like doing any of the Chris Fretag’s 10 lb. Slimdown series – she’s super tough, motivating, and I like that she has some girly-ness to her
what kind of cable is an exercise tv channel on? we have time warner… but i would love to try that~ I’m going to look for it right now actually!!! I just got done watching The Biggest Loser finale and now I want to work out for a second time today! LOL
Love the Biggest Loser!!
ExerciseTv is on Comcast – were you able to find the Chris Fretag series? If you can’t find it I’m sure you can find the DVD on Amazon – I think you would love it!
I didn’t find it
But I’ll check amazon.. I have a few DVDs I’m looking to order soon anyway! Thanks
Aww! YAY for being 20 weeks! I’m 29 this weeks & love reading other pregger girl blogs
I’ve never tried Netflix workouts, i didn’t even know that had any, thanks for the info. I have Exercise TV but it’s supposed to ending soon :-/
Thanks
Yea I love following others’ pregnant blogs too, so naturally when I found out I was I joined the team. lol.
Netflix workouts are great if you don’t have a gym membership. I highly recommend the 10 Minute Solution: Target Toning video to start, along with the Crunch: Super Slim Down (this is a yoga/pilates blend) and these videos are instant streaming so u can do them straight from your computer/tv and you don’t have to wait for them to be mailed to your house.
Also Self Magazine has some great videos (which used to be streaming, but now you have to have them sent to your house)- just type in “self” in the search bar and they will all pop up
