Today I am six weeks pregnant.

(This is an old post, as I didn’t let anyone know I was pregnant until I was about 8 1/2 weeks. The Ultrasound pic at the top is from 8 weeks 3 days)

How Big is the Baby?

According to babycenter.com:

This week’s major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you’ll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you’d find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby’s eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil.

How I’m Feeling Physically?

Right before I found out I was pregnant, I noticed that I had shortness of breath, and trouble balancing in yoga during poses I was previously doing very well at. I was convinced it was just because I hadn’t gone for a few days and didn’t really think much of it. And then when I found out I was pregnant and started reading about symptoms I realized why. I spoke with several of my yoga instructors about continuing yoga throughout my pregnancy and they said that there have been others who have continued to practice throughout as well, so if I wanted to I could. They suggested paying extra attention to my body and to take it easy- especially in the heated classes. They also suggested I go to the Corepower 2 Class – which is open power yoga.

I haven’t gained any weight so far and I think it is due to the nausea. I also have gone to 3 heated yoga classes this week, and walked the dogs about 5 miles each day for the past three days. I definitely felt tired after about 2 miles today, but I knew that I would be glad I finished, and I was.

I might try the corepower 2 class this week, and I’m going to ask about prenatal yoga next time I go. I have been looking all over for it on the class schedules of all the OC Corepower locations, and can’t seem to find it. I also checked another studio (Asana Fit) that used to have prenatal, and they no longer have it either. Is this a seasonal class or what? If I can’t find a studio that offers it, I’ll just order a DVD like Kjirten on Balanced Healthy Life did.. :)

Plus working out at home is fun. Especially when my dogs think my leg lifts mean play time. And they start barking and jumping all over me. Bless their little hearts but thank God we have a gate! Doggy’s now have rest time when mommy has workout time.

How I’m Feeling 

EXHAUSTED! really really exhausted. Yesterday I took two, two hour naps. And today my eyes have been droopy all day, but I just had things to do and didn’t have time for a nap. Tomorrow I am going to listen to my body and get the extra rest if I need it, and I’m fairly certain I will. Besides napping, I have had some trouble sleeping at night because I drink A TON of water and have been waking up 3+ times in the middle of the night to pee for what seems like an eternity! I also eat tons of fruits/veggies filled with water so that must also contribute.

I have been getting a lot of use out of our massage chair. I have several knots in my back, mainly near my shoulder blades- and I think this has something to do with the awkward positions I sleep in- I contort my body trying to get comfortable because the dogs are all over me…. I really need to do something about the sleeping with them issue because quality sleep seems like a distant memory and I desperately need some rest right now :(

What I’m eating

Breakfast-

Unfortunately kale smoothies have been on the yuck list for the past few days. I made one the other day and the smell of it (which usually I love) made me want to puke. I haven’t been too hungry in the morning, so I have been either eating half of an english muffin with peanut butter, or a coconut cream pie larabar.

I eat this and down lots of H2O while I blog. I usually blog all through lunch and the afternoon. Today I had more of an appetite. I drove to Jamba Juice and downed a double shot of wheatgrass, and then came home and ate a whole Food For Life Gluten Free Mutli-Seed english muffin with peanut butter on half, and garlic & herb cream cheese on the other half.

Lunch -

Yesterday was a chickpea salad, and today was a black bean veggie burger with some avocado slices and salsa. For snacks I tend to nibble on fruits and veggies. Yesterday I had lots of green grapes, and a gala apple with a tsp. of peanut butter. Today I had a 1/2 ruby red grapefruit and later I had some organic baby carrots with spicy hummus. I always drink lots of H2O and G.T.’s Syngery Enlightened {Passionberry, Guava, Strawberry, Gingerberry} Kombucha.

Dinner -

For dinner lately I will have a So Delicious Coconut yogurt (chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry) or an Amande Almond Milk Yogurt (coconut, strawberry, and raspberry) with some goji berries and another Larabar.

Again, I haven’t been super hungry lately so I know this isn’t much but its really all I can put down. Hopefully I will have my normal palate back soon so I can get busy cooking healthy foods again. :)
